Working out at home has become increasingly popular over the years with many people opting for exercise bikes due to their low-impact nature and high-calorie burning potential.
If you suffer from mobility problems or you’re at the very beginning of your exercise journey then a recumbent bike may be the vest best option for you as it gives you all the calorie-burning potential of other exercise machines but also has mobility friendly features.
In this article we’re going to take a closer look at the popular Nautilus exercise bike, the R614 in particular to see if it has what it takes to warrant a place in your home.
What is the Nautilus 614 ?
The Nautilus Recumbent Bike R614 model is a home exercise bike that can deliver great results without you needing to go to the gym.
Recumbent bikes feature a step-through design, making them easier to use for people with mobility issues and they offer a much lower impact way of exercising, one that doesn’t put extra stress on the body.
The Nautilus R614 model has been designed with different users in mind and with a 136kg limit, a very high majority of people will be able to use this bike comfortably.
The R614 weighs 80lbs, which is light for such a piece of kit, but let’s take a look at some of the other key features to see how good the R614 is.
Key Features
What we liked
There are so many strong features with the Nautilus R614 but our favorite is the Goal Track feature. It adds a new dimension to your training sessions and is a great way to keep you focused as you exercise. One of the main complaints of cardio workouts is the boring nature of the sessions, but having something to work towards and a system of real-time feedback and progress stats is one of the best things you could ask for when completing cardio exercise at home.
It’s great to have something clear to work towards and we think it’s a great feature.
What we didn’t like
We would love to see telemetry enabled heart rate tracking available on the Nautilus R614 as that would add a new level to the Goal Track capabilities. It’s not a huge problem or something to obsess over, but the addition would be nice to have.
Many people use heart rate training zones when exercising to monitor their performance. Having another way to check your heart rate would be a welcome addition.
We can’t complain about this bike. If you’re looking for a high-quality, low-impact exercise option, one that can give you the same type of high-calorie workouts that other machines can, then you can’t go wrong with the Nautilus R614 recumbent bike.
The design is very welcoming for anyone with mobility issues and the high user weight limit (136kg) ensures more novice users can still enjoy this bike with ease and comfort.
It does the job it is made for and gives you the features that you need, all at a respectable price.
If you’re looking for an exercise bike to use at home, to help you burn calories and lose weight fast, then we feel the Nautilus R614 recumbent bike is a great option.
